SOLO RIDE: / Revpal \ Talisay / Talisay | Breakfast at Bag of Beans (Out and Back)

Slow blues to go with the slow climb. Trying out the data gauges from Garmin Virb Edit. Pretty slick.

First Mid-week long ride ever; first solo ride on this route, first Revpal ascent at tough effort, on new climbing gears.

Traffic around school crossings along the main Tagaytay highway.

Talisay descent all on tape! Barely any cars. The views don't get old at all. Skip to 2:19 for the final turn before the lake.

Until I get a purple Lamborghini, and a bunch of Ferraris for the brothers to drive, this will have to do.

After taking the obligatory lakeside photo, it's back to business.

The inevitable happens: dogs chase me on an uphill stretch.

At first I'm hoping they just want to say "Hi" in dog, but seeing how they're grouped together, staring at me, and standing alert tells me otherwise.

The white one runs after me chomping around my ankles.

I try and pick up the pace, but the dogs are just too fast. Doomed. But then I remember what DM and Julius told me: "Just shout/bark at them."

The mountain peace is totally disrupted by my shrieking shouting. But that's all good because I show them who tha real boss. Wessssiiiiiiddde.

Guy on a road bike pulls up beside me, and he notices that I'm struggling.

Looking at me with a smirk on his face, he says, "Malapit na ba? First time ko kasi eh, madali lang pala. (Am I nearing the end? Because it's my first time. It's easier than I expected.)"

Me: "Sakto lang. Mga 4-5 km. (Just about. Around 4-5km left.)"

The guy blasts away while looking back at me. Within seconds he's out of sight. Oo na. Malakas ka na. For your sake though, keep your eyes on the road, Mr. Tour de Douchebag.

Another guy in a road bike pulls up around a minute later, but with a legit, welcoming smile: "Magandang umaga sir! Dumaan ba yung kasama ko? (Good morning to you, sir! Did my friend pass?)"

Me: "Magandang umaga din parekoy! Oo, kakadaan lang. First time nyo dito? (Good morning to you too, friend! Yep, he just did. Both your first time here?)"

Second guy: "Ah hinde, lagi kami dito. Ito madalas ruta namin (Nope, we always ride this. This is our usual route.)"

I like the second guy better. First guy is just an insecure, piece a's*** liar.

Back to Bag of Beans. I get the same blended coffee AND FINALLY, the beef tapa is in the house. Now it really deserves a picture.

Wasak.

Uneventful return to Nuvali via Revpal. HOT, HOT day.

TLDR:

- Solo, mid-week ride. Route: Up Revpal, Down and Up Talisay, back down Revpal.
- Chased down by dogs, but I showed them who's boss.
- Insecure rider and his nice friend rider overtake me.
- Beef tapa finally available.
